I want to give you a little bit of a reality check (some tough love) & make you think about how you’re running your home business (and then help you a bit with how to do it THE RIGHT WAY).

You have to think about what YOU like & don’t like when you visit someone’s wall or have a conversation with them. What gets YOU to take action and buy something?

Tip #1 - Get The Spam Off Of Your Personal FaceBook Wall
All it does is repel people and kind of violates FaceBook’s policies, so you run the risk of being shut down.
If you looked at my wall, you would be hard-pressed to find what network marketing company I represent.
Why?
My focus is on branding MYSELF, activating the right kind of people to ME, and providing VALUE to THEM. It’s also about sharing who I am and my own unique personality, so I can attract my kind of people.
If your network marketing company tanked tomorrow, don’t you want your people interested in YOU and anything you have to share with them? As long as it’s in line with your mission, vision, & values, you can share an awesome book, a training video or coaching program that helped you, your own resources that you’ve created, or a product or biz opp from your network marketing company. Any of those things can be monetized and if one disappears, your entire income doesn’t have to disappear with it. Holla!
If you’ve been spammy with your business, it’s not too late to change. It’s probably not even your fault, so don’t waste time beating yourself up about it. Your upline or company may be teaching you to spam their links. If it’s working for you, hey, all the more power to you, keep doing it. If it’s not, let’s keep going.
Tip #2 - Create VALUABLE Content That Addresses Your Target Market's Top Challenges & Pains.
This is how you make money! You give away information for free.
As you’re out networking with new people, they’re going to check out your wall to decide if they want to friend you. Do you want them to see “product, product, sale, buy my stuff”? Or do you want them to see who you are, if & how they can relate to you, and what type of value you can add to the their life?
Teach people something. Show them how to solve a problem. I did a video a while back on “5 Simple Ways to Lose Weight & Feel Sexier WITHOUT Crazy Diets & Exercise.” Do you think people were more likely to click on that than if I had titled it “Check out My Awesome Weight Loss System?” Of Course!
Why?
Because I stated what problem I was going to help them solve, and which pains I would help them avoid. I didn’t pound them with information about my products. I didn’t pressure anyone to buy anything. You wouldn’t have even realized if I was selling or just a happy customer sharing something that worked for me & my husband. I gave valuable tips and then with tip 5 I shared how really good supplements can help “and by the way, if you want to know MY favorite supplement that’s helped my husband & I, send me a message or let me know in the comments.” I provided value because I wanted people to see me as a go-to for this type of information. I wanted to build my know, like, & trust factor. If someone was wanting to get healthier, I wanted them to think of me as someone they could trust to talk to about that because I genuinely care to help people.
If you sell Thirty-One Bags, teach people organizing tips (where you happen to use some of the products you sell) & let them know to hit you up if they need some info on what you used.
If you sell makeup, do a video teaching how to do an awesome smokey eye look.
If you sell jewelry, teach some great ways to accessorize for Fall.
If you sell Tylenol, teach 5 tips for getting rid of a fever or headache & have one of those tips discuss your favorite pain reliever…. but leave people curious so they come to you to ask about how to get it.
Here’s another example… I have been doing occasional posts like this one, teaching home business tips.

To provide value to and attract other entrepreneurs and people who want to work from home.
Why?
I want YOU to think of ME as a go-to person in this industry. I have a heart to help people like me create success online.
Why?
I’ve been in your shoes & I finally have answers. I struggled for over a decade and then finally did a ton of research & attached myself to some top earners to find what works. I share about it so you don’t have to go through all of that. I’d be a real jerk if I kept what I know to myself & left my people (YOU) in the dust.
NINJA BONUS TIP: See what things people are responding to most (what is getting you the most engagement on FaceBook) & become a go-to expert on that. The people you want to attract will come to you.
I’ve been working hard this past few months on discovering my own niche and really defining who it is that I want to help and I finally am having some light bulb moments. It’s ok if it takes some time.
I’ve realized that I can’t (and shouldn’t) be the expert on everything network marketing. I needed to narrow it down…. and through self-discovery and masterminding with experts and feedback from my followers, I’ve realized what my people want is a way to work their business faster and better, because…
- They’re too busy to work their business enough to create the time freedom they crave…or at least they THINK they are.
- They might not be ready to have blog, do webinars, become a coach, create courses, run an email list, do FaceBook ads or even have a FaceBook business page.
- They don’t want to do parties & be away from their family.
- They just want to know what to do every day to grow a business online & how to do it in the quickest, most painless way possible.
- They want to know what technology can help them get organized & more efficient AND how to use it for their business….and that’s what I’m good at!
So I’m narrowing it down so most of the training I put out from here forward will be about how to use tools and technology to get organized and grow your network marketing business faster & more efficiently. I’m still working out the best way to word that, but you get the point. When I create content from now on, I’ll be asking myself “How can I help someone work faster or more efficiently today?” “What’s something I can teach that I’m doing in my business that’s helped me organize my time or do something faster?”
By narrowing it down more specifically like that, I can resonate the most with the people who I can help the best. When you narrow your expertise and your target audience, you may repel some people too. That’s ok, they’re not YOUR people. The ones who really vibe with what you’re putting out will be most loyal to you and interested in what you have to say.
Tip #3 - When you're having a conversation with someone, don't just hit them with your links.
Don’t blindly message people your links who never asked you for them. They don’t want to hear about a sale you’re having if you’ve never even spoken to them before or they have no deed for your product.
What should you do instead? You have a normal conversation. As you’re talking to them, you may find ways you could offer help to them with your business, product, or service. You may not. But you don’t give them your link or add them to your group unless they ask you for it.
Why?
Because that’s going to send them running for the hills. People spam me their links & add me to their groups all the time and it typically just makes me NOT want to buy anything from them. When people spam me now, I’m more likely to offer some tips than I am to buy their product. Do I like to support other network marketers & their dreams to make money from home? Of course! But there’s a better way for them to get my attention & that’s what I’m talking about here.
If you relate to me in some way, like maybe you’re a mom who’s working full time but desperately wants to stay home with her kids and you catch a piece of content I made where I say something that inspires you or show you it’s possible to make that happen, you’re going to be ASKING me for more info about my business rather than me trying to force it on you when you’re not looking for that.
Or if we strike up a conversation & you tell me about your struggles & I have a solution I can offer you that may or may not work for you, it’s up to YOU if you’re interested in some more info. At that point, you’ve already decided that you know, like & trust me, and that I have the ability AND a solution that may fit your needs, so all you have to do is decide if you want to take a look & it’s a fit for you. If not, no big deal. I’m not going to act desperate or pushy or turn the conversation awkward. We can still be friends And if it’s not for you, maybe you know someone I could help.

Tip #4 - You Need a Plan That Works
Have you noticed that most of the top earners you see on stage sell products, coaching services, have an MLM or home business component, do affiliate marketing (multiple income streams), and BUILD THEIR BRAND & LIST (via blog, FaceBook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, etc)… and you should too if you want to hit 6 or 7 figures by casting an even wider net and drawing people into what you’re about before you even talk to them!
BUT…
You don’t have to START there (and most of them didn’t either). The idea of doing all of that at once probably makes you want to pull all of your hair out, am I right? Most average people aren’t going to join a network marketing business and immediately run out and start creating courses or offering coaching services, setting up a blog, etc. It’s not duplicatable to your entire downline. When you’re just starting out and trying to make your first $500, $1,000, $5,000, you’re not thinking of all of that. Raise your hand if that sounds intimidating.
Even if you do aspire to do all of that, you may not want to start your story at chapter 37, right? It takes time and education (which usually means money you might not have yet) to build up all of those skills. Maybe right now you just need a way to earn some money so you can pay that car note.
And if you’re already in a network marketing company, there’s a high likelihood your upline has you running yourself ragged doing parties or spamming your friends & family. But what happens if you do those parties & the bookings stop & you run out of your warm market? That’s what happened to me in my former company and it left me broke.
