Consistency is key to maximum productivity, which requires you to manage your energy. Home business fatigue leads to poor choices, potential injuries, and more problems that will only waste your time and deplete your skills. If you get burned out, it’s going to affect your ability to get your work done. Having a strategy and a plan is never a wrong choice.
Turning productive activities into habits helps you build a balanced home business that you are truly excited about. One of the best ways to become more effective in your home business is to manage your energy and stress.
Today, we’re talking about 4 ways to manage your energy, reduce your stress, and become more productive in your home environment.

4 Crucial Steps to Manage your Energy
- Healthy diet and exercise
- Stop being “busy”
- You can’t make everyone happy
- Focus on what you CAN control
1 - Manage Your Energy with Diet and Exercise
No one likes to hear it, but proper diet and exercise are crucial and one of the most important aspects of managing and harboring energy. Let’s say you ignore this & you don’t adopt the proper diet and exercise routine… It won’t matter how many other other good habits or practices you begin. Ignoring your body will eventually lead to your body forcing you to pay attention. If you are unhealthy and your body needs crucial vitamins, you need to listen to your body.
Being a professional athlete or adopting the next fad diet isn’t required for success here. (I’m the last person who would tell you to go do that.) It’s best to find the proper balance that works for you and your schedule and make small tweaks that you can actually commit to implementing. This requires some honesty and mindfulness to be done successfully. Providing your body with the right food and resources it needs goes far.
If you want to be around to enjoy the fruits of your labor, make sure you are taking proper care of your body and doing self-care.
2 - Stop Being Busy All the Time
Believe it or not, the most productive people have empty space in their calendars. Say what?!? They’re not ALWAYS busy because they understand that it’s more about the quality of their work and how it impacts their ultimate goal. They also understand that you need to create space in your day for creativity and ideas to flow. The goal is to use less time and energy to achieve more success.
Being busy drains your energy and prevents you from performing at your best. It makes you forget your home business goals. You may be hustling your face off but if you’re not focused on your goals, you’re wasting time & energy focusing on the wrong things. If your results aren’t matching your efforts, you are already experiencing this.
When you give yourself a more realistic schedule, you can also free up more energy to master the skills you need to run your home business. This will help you achieve your goals even faster. Stop being “busy” and start getting hyper intentional about how you spend your work time.
3 - Stop Trying to Make Everyone Happy
In everything you do for your business, your focus should be on your target audience. Unfortunately, you won’t, can’t, and shouldn’t please everyone. This unrealistic expectation will overwhelm you and lead to poor communication, confusion, and engagement among your audience. You would have to juggle many different personalities to satisfy them all successfully (and trust me, you’re already doing too much).
Your target audience is unlikely to be EVERYONE. It is something you should narrow down right away if you haven’t already. Focus in on who you serve & quit trying to make everyone else happy. A mentor of mine says “I may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m someone’s shot of Vodka.” Which would you rather be?
4 - Don’t Dwell on What You Can’t Control
Stop negativity in its tracks by only focusing on what you CAN control. For example, you can’t make everyone buy your products, but you can focus on quality of work and put the best product out there to attract your perfect audience. It’s draining and exhausting to be operating in a negative headspace, worrying about things you have no control over.
I know it may sound hard, but you have to take the emotion out of your business and hone in on what the data is telling you. Use the data to tweak what you DO have control over. Then use the new data to determine if the changes went well or not. Spend more time on what’s working & less time on what’s not. Put some effort into streamlining your business (organize, systematize, templatize, automate, & delegate) so you can get things done faster and easier. That’s what we do in Life Ninja Academy.
