Something I hear a lot of entrepreneurs struggle with is how to be more consistent in home business. In our Life Ninjas Community, there’s an onboarding question about if you could wave a magic wand and fix anything in your business, what that would be. One of the top answers is to be more consistent.
I have some good news for you!
If this is something you struggle with (raising my own hand here as well), it’s something you have complete control over. It’s totally fixable!

Why is Consistency Important in Home Business?
Consistency is a key part of any successful business. It involves repeating tasks each day, week, or month in a smooth and efficient manner in order to reach your goals. Not just any tasks. We’re talking about intentional tasks that support your business goals and growth.
Let me re-iterate that.
You choose tasks that support your goals and you get consistent with them.
TRUTH BOMB: Lack of focus and lack of consistency are costing you your dreams.
This is HUGE!
If you go outside & hit a tree with an axe just one time every single day in the same spot, what do you think is eventually going to happen? What if you go out only 3 days a week & hit that tree (same spot)? It’ll still fall, but it’ll take much longer, right? What if you go out every single day & you hit that tree but you whack a different spot each time? (Squirrel!)
If you want to create that life you’ve been dreaming about, you need to take intentional action (do income-producing activities) and you have to be consistent. We talk about this in Life Ninja Academy & the Results Injection Planner. Your actions need to support your goals.
Your followers/leads and customers appreciate consistency too. If you are inconsistent, your people may get confused about what to expect from you. Consistency builds your know, like, and trust factor with your audience and ultimately helps you impact more people and make more money with your business.
Think about your favorite restaurant. It’s likely that one of the main reasons why you continue to visit is that you know you’ll receive quality food every time. They are consistent and predictable with the quality and taste of your food.
Follow these five tips to be more consistent in home business:
1 – Be Willing to Be Uncomfortable
Even if you don’t feel like it or want to, keep going. Successful entrepreneurs are well aware that doing consistent everyday actions, regardless of how you feel or what other challenges you are currently facing, is the way to success. Even the happiest people are aware that they will endure discomfort, yet this does not prevent them from achieving their goals and being more consistent in their home business. This is where having a clear action plan that supports your goals can really help. Knowing your top priorities each day and treating them an non-negotiable & not dependent on your comfort level means you’re more likely to get them done.
2 – Recognize your true desires and goals in your home business
How do you define success in your home business? What values do you live by? If you can’t quickly answer, pause for a moment to think on this for a bit.
If you don’t truly know what you stand for and what you’re working toward, you can’t expect to know what to work on (let alone, get consistent with it).
I define success as a life lived purposefully, passionately, and with integrity. Three the the top core values that I live by are: honesty, kindness, and resilience. When things don’t go as I planned or times get tough, I rely on these values to help me through.
I believe that success is not just about achieving goals but it’s more about fulfilling your potential. Fulfilling your potential means doing what you love, making your biggest impact, and being the best version of yourself possible.
Success is NOT about comparing yourself to the achievements of others. You get to walk your own path & live your own best life.
Self-knowledge is essential for successful goal attainment. Without knowing ourselves accurately, it is difficult to set and achieve the right goals. To stay on track, create a vision board that reflects your desired future. Keep it near your workspace to help you stay motivated and on track.
3 – Clarify your Mission and Expectations in home business
Clarify your objectives and the resources and requirements needed to achieve them. The easier it is to comprehend, the easier it will be to create processes and systems that work better for you and your business, providing you with the resources you require to be more consistent in home business.
One of the first things we do in Life Ninja Academy foundations training is to get super clear on your mission, vision, values, who you serve, and the purpose of your business. We use that to then set clear goals, then move into planning your “Results Injection,” which is where we map out the actions necessary to achieve your goals. Understanding these aspects of your business ensures that your goals make sense and support what you’re saying you care about. (This also helps you to say “no” to the things that don’t and save yourself tons of wasted time.)
I’ll say it again… when you have prioritized your tasks based on how they support your goals, you are more likely to be consistent with them. If you’ve determined in your results injection that your focus should be on content creation and connection, the next step will be scheduling these priorities into your digital task management tool.
3 – Streamline Your Home Business to Improve Consistency
In Life Ninja Academy, it’s all about determining how to streamline the heck out of your business, to save you time and mental calories running it. By “streamline,” I mean organize, systematize, templatize, automate, and delegate everything you can, in order to save you massive amounts of time and energy. Having your business running more smoothly, reduces the friction you feel that may cause you to procrastinate on tasks, which leads to inconsistency. What’s something you can streamline in your business, to get more consistent with getting it done? This is a huge topic, so I want to focus on just a couple of tips here…
Two ways to increase your consistency in life and business is to get organized and work in batches. This can help you stay on track, avoid distractions, save tons of time, and make better decisions. You’ll find you don’t dread the less desirable tasks as much if you can streamline them properly so they’re less draining of your time and energy.
Let’s talk about batching similar tasks together. Think about recording a YouTube video, for example. A lot of time can be spent writing your outline or script, doing hair & makeup, getting your lighting set up, recording, editing… you get it. But what if instead, you wrote up your outlines for 5 or 10 different videos all at once (batch the planning). Once you’re in a good writing flow, you might as well keep going, right? What if you then recorded all of those videos at once? How much time could you save by only doing your hair & makeup one time and just blasting through recording all in one sitting? Then what if you sent all of that off to a VA to do your video editor (or did it yourself) to be done all at one time?
Make sure your work is also organized and relevant to the task at hand. For example, schedule a separate time for checking emails or responding to clients and don’t allow yourself to work on anything else during this time. Did you catch that I said to schedule a time to check emails? There’s probably no reason you need to be checking your inbox all day long. Schedule yourself 15-30 minutes to check your messages only 1 or 2 times a day. Have a system for how you handle different types of emails, create labels, folders, auto-filters…. whatever you can think of to make the task quicker and easier. And by the way, if you’re on social media just to respond to messages, don’t let the squirrels pull you into watching funny cat videos.
4 – Create Healthy Routines
The first step you take in the morning can have a significant impact on your day. For example, if you tend to wake up grumpy and unproductive, making it difficult to start the day off on a positive note will only make things harder. It is important to find routines that help improve your mental and physical health so that you can start each day with a positive attitude. It’s also important to be aware of your natural energy levels throughout the day and schedule your tasks to match them.
That’s it, Ninja! It is super important to be consistent in your home business if you want to be successful with hitting your goals. Getting consistent in your home business can be much easier to do if you understand your priorities, plan ahead, and stay committed.
